GECC COVID-19

  • GECC will continue to prioritise the safety and wellbeing of the community and will follow the Queensland Government's health directives, as we have done since the start of the pandemic.

    Please continue to follow our social media channels as we will provide further updates related to our events and venue.

  • Yes. As per our additional COVID-19 Terms and Conditions for ticketing, if you’re experiencing flu like symptoms and cannot attend a performance for that reason, please contact our Box Office prior to the performance start time. GECC will require a medical certificate to process your refund.

  • As tickets are booked in advance, GECC expects that customers plan ahead to ensure they have finished any period of self-isolation due to travel overseas or from a COVID-19 hotspot in advance of any event.

  • No. As per our ticketing Terms and Conditions and as per the Live Performance Australia (LPA) guidelines, a refund is not available for this reason.

    Please note additional measures may be in place for certain events. In these instances, GECC will communicate this information prior to ticket purchasing.

Arrival | Pre-show | Food and Drink

  • Yes, we have meals available from the GECC Bar prior to each performance. Please check the event webpage on our website closer to the event to find out exactly what is available.

  • Yes, as the Lightbox Liquor License covers both areas, you can bring your drink from Lightbox with you in to the GECC Foyer. Restrictions may apply in event areas such as Theatre Auditorium or Halls.

  • No. As a licensed area, only food and drinks purchased on site may be consumed here.

  • GECC is open between 9:00am and 4.30pm, Monday to Friday, and one hour prior to each event.

  • If you elect to, or are required to collect your tickets from the Box Office, you will be required to provide photographic identification issued by the Government or an Educational Institution, such as drivers licence or a student card. Something with your photo, name and address is ideal.

  • We like to start the show on time, so if you arrive late you may be asked to wait outside the event and will be ushered in during a suitable break.

  • No, currently we don’t offer pre-ordered food and drinks. The Lightbox team are kept informed of expected audience numbers and prepare quantities accordingly, so they are well prepared.

  • We’re right in the heart of downtown Gladstone! There are plenty of places to dine along Goondoon Street including Coffee Club (daytime shows), Oak and Vine (evenings), Ban Thai, Rocksalt, Naina’s Indian Cuisine or the Reef hotel. View our map of places to eat and stay near the GECC.

  • For some events, such as Banquets and Evening Balls, a dress code may apply. For Theatre Performances, we don’t have a strict dress code, though would ask that you wear appropriate clothing and something you are comfortable in.

  • Yes, our food and beverage contractor sells food and drinks. We prohibit food in the Theatre auditorium, drinks are allowed in plastic containers. Plastic containers are available at the bar for patrons to use.

  • 1 hour prior to a performance. GECC reserves the right to evict any unruly or disruptive patrons, so drink responsibly to ensure that you and everyone else can enjoy the event.

  • We are open 1 hour prior to a performance, so you can arrive anytime within that period, and you’ll be able to relax in our foyer until the performance starts. We generally open theatre doors 20 minutes prior to the show, to allow ample time for patrons to find their seats.

  • Yes, we love a happy event! GECC is among the most in demand wedding venues in Gladstone. From a small affair to a social-event-of-the-year, we can custom design the right space for you big day.

Plan your event: touring bands, theatre performances, and other cultural event

  • Besides our team of professionals experienced in helping tour promoters run flawless events, our flexible event spaces, our superior sound, and lighting options (no gaffer tape and paperclips holding the whole show together here!) and our “built for purpose” access there’s a bigger reason to choose GECC for your event.

  • Yes. In fact, we’re Gladstone’s premier destination for touring concerts, festivals, and theatre productions. Our venue hire team has earned our reputation for delivering professional event spaces. We offer all the “capital city bells and whistles” including easy bump in and bump out, inner-city location with all the amenities, excellent green room, lift access to stage and dressing room spaces, a theatre space will all the mod-cons (lighting, audio, hydraulic lifts etc) and can even handle your ticketing quickly and affordably in-house. That means more flexibility for you and a drama-free tour.

  • Welcome to the world beyond Brisbane! We’ve been hosting touring acts from Sydney, Melbourne and abroad for decades. You’ll find our team not only 100% capable of working on your tour, but excited to welcome you to our regional centre. We’re on hand to help your tour co-ordinator with all those “local questions” and we can even help you to secure accommodation, local advertising and marketing, car hire and airport transfers. We get that it feels like a risk running tours to a new location. That’s why we offer a full-service “on the ground” venue partnership backed by the reliable AV that your audio engineer, gaffer, and roadies are familiar with.

  • We get that drumming up ticket sales can be stressful, especially in a new territory. As part of your booking, we offer a basic marketing package that includes:

    • Email blasts 5k+ including an “on sale” promotion
    • Social media promotion to 9.4k (and counting) of our large and very engaged local audience
    • A Facebook “event” to create “viral buzz”
    • A dedicated event page on our website
    • Display of key marketing collateral at the venue (D/L Flyers and A3 Posters)
    • Advertising on our two LED screens and internal digital screens

  • Our main theatre is a fully seated venue; however, we offer event halls that can be configured to your needs. So yes, we mosh! Our flat floor can be configured to your needs and holds between 200 to 1000 patrons standing.

  • Our tech experts can help! We have a comprehensive selection of tech equipment with the ability to adapt to your needs. Just get in touch.

  • In most cases the event promoter will book the support act.  

    However, we love introducing local artists to wider audiences. If you’re an artist and would like to be included in our database, please register your local act (based within the Gladstone Region) here. Tour promotors can get in touch with our venue hire team to receive contact details/SoundCloud links for local artists.

  • The GECC’s backstage area offers not only adequate space for up to three trucks to bump in and out, but to park during the event period. Your roadies will be delighted to hear that we offer obstruction free access and event lifts for tours bumping in and out.

  • Venue hire is generally for a five-hour period, but for touring artists, we understand that bump in and out can take much longer. The venue is in the heart of Gladstone City so promotors may be required to abide by noise-related by-laws. We are happy to come to an arrangement that suits your tour schedule, get in touch for more information.   • COVID-19 has made this question a little triggering for US ALL. All cancellation information will be provided as part of your contract. If you have specific questions now, just get in touch.

  • We have a selection of adaptable spaces including hall configurations to accommodate 200 to 1200 as well as small and medium meeting rooms. The GECC was custom designed to accommodate corporate events and has been the chosen venue for conferences and meetings across the mining, manufacturing, public and primary industries sectors. We specialise in creating flawless functions from start to finish.

  • Yes, we offer “boardroom to ballroom” sized spaces to corporate clients, with spaces starting at just $30 per hour. Learn more about our Conference Venues.

Ticketing | Gift Cards | Loyalty

  • Yes!  Our entertainment gift cards make an excellent gift idea for the theatre or live performance lover in your life. They’re the ideal gift for teens in Gladstone and a favourite for seniors who enjoy a day out at the theatre. You can purchase gift cards from our Box Office team, or online here.

  • Gift cards purchased on or after November 2019 will last 3 years, prior to this gift cards last one year.

  • On selected performances, yes. Concession pricing will be noted on the events web page.

  • We love the theatre too and to recognise those who love us. We have a loyalty program brimming with goodies, which you can learn all about here.

  • Every seat at the GECC is premium. They’re all good!

  • It’s very risky purchasing from a reseller as you have no guarantee of the legitimacy of the ticket, and you generally pay more than its worth. The only way to guarantee the authenticity and validity of tickets is to purchase directly from GECC.

  • Yes, just let our Box Office team know so we can update the information on the ticket. This is important as we may need to contact the ticket holder in the instance there’s been a change to the show.

  • Don’t lose hope! If the show is sold out, get in touch with our Box Office team and jump on a waitlist. Sometimes sold out shows have tickets become available or additional shows are added to the season. If you’re on a waitlist, you’ll be notified first.

  • This can vary depending on the promoter. Generally, if not specified, anyone over the age of 18 months and under the age of 16 years would be considered a child. Infants under the age of 18 months are usually free, provided that they sit on their parent’s lap.

  • No, GECC operates a strict ‘no refund or exchange’ policy. Please consult our Terms and Conditions for further information.

  • No. This is no longer an accepted practice.

  • Contact our Box Office team, as we may be able to reissue tickets. This will render the lost tickets nonredeemable and may incur an additional booking fee in accordance with our Terms and Conditions.

  • We provide carers with a complimentary ticket when accompanying their registered client to selected shows. This is at the discretion of the promoter. Please contact our Box Office prior to making your booking. You may be required to show your carer’s card at that time.

  • Some promoters offer group discounts as part of their online booking and the number of tickets required to qualify may vary from show to show. Please check the event booking page for group booking prices.

  • Yes, they can, they will need to provide evidence of your written consent to do so and details of the event.

  • Children under the age of 16 must be accompanied by an adult.

  • The venue’s bar will remain open throughout the show. You’re welcome to enjoy a drink and light snack while your 12+ year old attends the show unaccompanied. Some teen events are just as fun in the parent waiting area as they are inside the venue! While there is no designated drop and go zone at the GECC, many parents collect their teens from the GECC foyer.

Visiting Gladstone

  • Our accommodation partner, Central Apartment Group have great rooms available at reasonable prices and are conveniently located across the road from us. We are also a 5-minute walk from the Oaks, Rydges, the Reef Hotel, and many more.

  • We also recommend Gladstone Central Apartment Group for large group bookings as they have three locations, all close to the Gladstone Entertainment Convention Centre. Gladstone Central Apartment are clean, affordable and provide a comfortable experience for your attendees, be they mining executives, international travellers, clients, or entry level staff. 

  • There is so much to do in Gladstone! We are the gateway to the Southern Great Barrier Reef and home to plenty of cultural and foodie experiences. The city itself has plenty to do for families including water parks, botanical gardens, and everything for water lovers!  We’re also a short drive to the famous Agnes Waters and 1770 beach area, as well as Eurimbula National Park and the historical township of Miriam Vale. Access | Support | General

  • Yes, we have wheelchair accessible seating available in the theatre auditorium. When booking, please contact our Box Office to book. These seats are restricted from web bookings to ensure they are only reserved by those in need. Learn more about accessibility at the GECC.

  • Currently no, the spaces within the GECC are not fitted with hearing assistance systems. We are looking to make improvements in this space and you’ll be the first to know when we do!

  • We love welcoming new members to our Friends of The Theatre (FOTT) program. Our FOTT volunteers enjoy a wide variety of benefits. Interested in volunteering with us? Visit our Friends of The Theatre page or pop into the GECC Box Office for more information. We wouldn’t be the GECC without our FOTT.

By entering our venue, you understand that the GECC is not liable for any lost items and reserve the right to check identity on collection of lost items.
