Gladstone Entertainment Convention Centre is home to the Gladstone Region’s most exciting and engaging child-friendly entertainment and events.
Every year, our Schools Program is filled with a brilliantly diverse range of children’s theatre shows and events. With productions suitable for both primary and secondary school students, national touring acts provide performances that are highly engaging and relevant to the current national curriculum, many featuring workshops, education packs and teacher resources that are invaluable for consolidating learning.

Timetable
We know that time out of the classroom can be difficult to facilitate, particularly for secondary school students. We schedule some events outside of school hours so that your students can experience our live performances without missing critical classroom learning.
Gladstone Education in Concert
Join Queensland Symphony Orchestra for an educational concert designed for students of all ages and stages of music learning, from first experiences to expanding their musical concepts and knowledge.
Hosted by Ed Le Brocq and led by conductor Tianyi Lu, this concert opens with two commanding fanfares: Copland’s iconic tribute to the common man, and Joan Tower’s powerful counterpoint for the uncommon woman.
From there, we enter the rich world of Tchaikovsky’s Swan Lake. Students will hear selections from all four acts from the sweeping dances and tender scenes to the dramatic character pieces.
Don’t miss Queensland Symphony Orchestra in this educational concert featuring music by some of the greatest composers of all time.

The Scene Project - Queensland Theatre Company in partnership with Gladstone Regional Council
Now in its 12th year, The Scene Project is a state wide participatory project that involves secondary schools (Years 7-12) in the creative process of performance, from rehearsal through to presentation. It acknowledges young people and teachers as artists and encourages the making, presenting, viewing and responding to live performance in a professional space and manner. The Scene Project prioritises collaboration, professional development of teachers and young people, and enhancing existing curriculum or co-curricular activities in schools.
